LeeAnne Arnold: From Runner-Up to Champion Returning to the competition with a fierce determination, LeeAnne Arnold, a CMS Certified Sommelier and the General Manager of Harvest Wine Market, triumphed this year after finishing as a runner-up in the past. Arnold expressed her excitement about winning, stating, "It was such a thrill to compete during the Second Annual Showdown and incredible to win after being runner-up last year. What a fun way to spend a Sunday, competing against friends and supporting a great cause." Her journey to victory included a remarkable food-and-wine pairing challenge with Chef Anthony Pell of The Iberian Pig, where their dish—a beautiful assembly of duck confit—paired superbly with Arnold’s selection of Testalonga El Bandito ‘Monkey Gone To Heaven’ 2021. Judging the Best: Behind the Scenes of the Challenge The competition consisted of three intense rounds: the first was a creative pairing with a local chef, followed by a rigorous wine knowledge quiz, and culminating in a tense blind tasting round. In the final showdown against runner-up Phillip Patti, Arnold’s wine acumen shined, securing her the grand prize of $2,000. Arnold passionately noted, "There is nothing quite like the experiential learning that takes place by being in the vineyards and speaking with winemakers on their turf,” emphasizing her commitment to furthering her education by preparing for the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Theory Exam in 2026, along with plans for a European vineyard tour.
