Prepare for a Prehistoric Adventure at Nashville Zoo
Excitement is in the air as DinoTrek, the thrilling prehistoric exhibit, returns to Nashville Zoo this spring and summer! From March 6 to July 26, families will have the unique opportunity to walk through a lush woodland trail and experience life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, all while learning about wildlife and conservation.
What's New in DinoTrek This Year?
This iteration of DinoTrek features nearly 50 animatronic dinosaurs, some towering over 20 feet tall and weighing more than 5,000 pounds! New additions to the dinosaur lineup include thrilling species like the Stegosaurus and Allosaurus, while returning favorites such as Tyrannosaurus Rex and Brachiosaurus will continue to capture the imaginations of visitors of all ages.
Importance of Learning Through Play
Nashville Zoo's Director of Education, Roger Torbert, emphasizes that educative experiences like DinoTrek provide a valuable platform for discussing conservation issues. “As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand how a fascination with dinosaurs often sparks a deeper appreciation for animals living today,” he notes. DinoTrek creates a fun and engaging atmosphere to talk about issues surrounding extinction and wildlife conservation.
Sensory-Friendly Mornings for All Visitors
To ensure that all individuals can enjoy this grand adventure, Nashville Zoo is offering sensory-friendly mornings for visitors with sensory sensitivities. These special sessions, scheduled on select Sundays, allow guests to experience DinoTrek without the usual sounds, movements, or water surprises. This inclusive approach demonstrates the zoo's commitment to providing enriching experiences for everyone.
Access Fees and Additional Information
A separate ticket is required to access DinoTrek, priced at $5 per person (children under 2 are free), which does not include regular zoo admission. Tickets are available for purchase online, at the Entry Village, or on-site before entering the exhibit.
